Compensation Director – Brilliant Earth 

Position Overview: 

Brilliant Earth is searching for a Compensation Director to oversee the compensation philosophy, program and strategy, with goals of fairness, maintaining a competitive market stance and achieving our business goals. Reporting to the SVP, HR, you will act as a strategic business partner across the organization and have a tangible impact on the continued growth strategy of the company.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Develop a compensation philosophy and administer policies and procedures to ensure that the compensation philosophy and programs support business objectives, are fair and competitive and legally compliant.  
  • Manage nationwide base pay, short and long-term incentives and the annual compensation adjustment process in support of remote & onsite workforce, and corporate and retail / warehouse staff.  
  • Manage the equity-based long-term incentive compensation program, including design, compliance and day to day operations 
  • Participate in the creation of materials for review and approval by the Compensation Committee / Board of Directors.  Support the Legal team in the development of the executive compensation section of the annual Proxy statement.  
  • Partner with HR & Talent Acquisition teams to proactively adjust programs to address changing employment and recruitment markets.  
  • Provide a framework and guidance for base, short and long-term compensation for offers, promotions, annual reviews and internal transfers.  
  • Manage statutory and internal compensation reporting, ensuring compliance and equity.  
  • Develop total compensation analyses and modeling, in partnership with FP&A, to support our compensation philosophy and manage to budgets.  
  • Utilize multiple data sources, including surveys, competitor analysis, and compensation benchmarking platforms to develop competitive strategies and ensure market competitive base and variable pay programs.  
  • Stay abreast and provide guidance for compliance with applicable employment-related federal and state requirements regarding employee pay. Provide leadership and compliance with federal and state FLSA requirements. 
  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to present insights and develop competitive and equitable compensation plans for every function and level of the organization.  
  • Support the development and design of a best-in-class recognition program. 

Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years’ experience in HR, with 7+ years’ focus in compensation 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and continuously improving compensation programs and procedures 
  • Robust analytical abilities, detail orientation and organizational skills 
  • Experience identifying through an analytical approach and onboarding compensation tools and resources 
  • Deep experience with HRIS applications; Oracle HCM (including Compensation Module) preferred 
  • Working knowledge of sales compensation design and administration best practices 
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritize time effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment 
  • Understanding and embracement of diversity, inclusion and belonging principles 
  • Interest in socially and environmentally responsible organizations and products 
  • Bachelor’s Degree
