Position Overview :
The Internal Audit team at Brilliant Earth is embarking on building a successful Internal Audit team focused on delivering on its mission to help Brilliant Earth serve its stakeholders by strengthening its processes.
As the Senior Internal Auditor, your knowledge, expertise and leadership abilities will be the foundation for the team’s success. You will assist the Internal Audit Leader with managing and developing audit team members. You will drive the development and implementation of processes and procedures within Internal Audit and across the company. You will lead the development and execution of Sarbanes-Oxley testing as well as project engagement planning and oversight. This role reports to the Head of Internal Audit.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute audit projects and SOX testing
- Prepares and reviews workpapers
- Conducts risk assessments including the identification of controls and testing attributes
- Provides coaching and guidance to team members to ensure deliverables are met timely
- Develops content of audit reports including issues and recommendations
- Delivers audit team project performance evaluations
- Ensures engagements are completed in accordance with audit standards
- Communicates effectively with all levels of management
- Builds and develops cross-functional relationships
- Delivers difficult messages based on facts and accompanied with recommendations

Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or another relevant field
- 4+ years of audit, accounting, financial, information technology or related business experience
- Thorough understanding of SOX requirements
- Advanced knowledge of internal audit methods and demonstrated experience leading internal audit projects in compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors standards
- Intermediate to advanced business acumen in business operations, industry practices, and emerging trends
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and tools to analyze issues and trends
- Trustworthy and discreet with confidential financial and employee data
- Demonstrated ability to suggest multiple alternatives for process improvements and communicate complex concepts across multiple disciplines
- Lead by example upholding the principles of integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, and competence
Preferred Experience and Knowledge
- 4+ years of internal or external audit experience in the internal audit department at a retail company or equivalent IT audit experience at a top tier firm (Big 4, RSM, Protiviti, etc.)
- Holds an active CIA, CISA, or CPA designation
- 2+ years of experience leading end-to-end engagements and/or leadership experience within the information technology or security fields
- Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls, business risks and audit techniques
- Experience with AuditBoard, Wdesk, or audit engagement support tools
- Maintains other designations including Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), or other relevant business designation
